PRESBYTERIAN SENIORCARE NETWORK REPORTS FIRST COVID-RELATED DEATH
August 11, 2020
Washington, PA, August 11, 2020 – Today the Washington campus of Presbyterian SeniorCare Network received notification that the death of a severely-ill Southmont skilled nursing resident on Monday, August 10, was attributable to COVID-19. This is the first death in the Network’s 10-county footprint that is attributable to COVID-19. Because of health information privacy rules, information about the resident is not being released.
“Our residents are like family to us,” says Derek Culbertson, Executive Director at Southmont. “We are deeply saddened and extend our heartfelt sympathy to the family. COVID-19 is an insidious virus. Since it entered our country, it has proven that nobody is immune to it.”
Since the beginning of the pandemic, Presbyterian SeniorCare Network has been aggressive about following the guidance and protocols issued by local, state and federal authorities.
“Caring for the most vulnerable population is both challenging and rewarding,” Culbertson continued. “Our residents and their families are counting on us like never before and we will continue the fight to decrease the risk of exposure to this virus.”
Presbyterian SeniorCare Network is committed to transparency and has notified the appropriate authorities and has reached out to Southmont families and the team members on its Washington campus.
