Making life easier for people living with Alzheimer’s and dementia in western Pennsylvania area.
Dementia care helps make aging easier for people living with Alzheimer's and related dementias. Presbyterian SeniorCare Network set the standard for dementia care when it opened Woodside Place in 1991. Located on the Oakmont campus, Woodside Place was the first care community of its kind to specialize in meeting the physical, mental and social needs of individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. In sharp contrast to the institutional settings of the day, the building heralded an intimate household model that capitalized on residential design. The design also incorporated visual cues that encourage mobility and comfort within a secure environment.
